The Role
Lumen is currently seeking a Vice President of Federal Civilian Sales. This seasoned sales leader will lead a large team of managers and their respective account team to grow the business – which includes USDA, DOI, USPS, the Social Security Administration, VA and others – by deepening customer relationships, generating opportunities, and closing sales to exceed revenue, bookings, and growth targets for the territory. This sales leader will report to the RVP of Federal and oversee a team of four managers and work with a total team of 25-30 resources.
The Main Responsibilities
- Leading a high-performing, motivated team of leaders and account teams to meet and exceed revenue, bookings, and growth targets for business segments within the territory.
- Developing and implementing the direct sales strategy to drive growth through network services and solutions.
- Developing and implementing a partner strategy for the business.
- Contributing to the overall growth strategy for the Federal business.
- Building C-Level customer relationships in top accounts.
- Ensuring territory revenue, bookings, and growth targets are met and take remedial steps as necessary. Reviewing and monitoring monthly sales results and employee scorecard to determine any performance management actions that needs to be taken. Ensuring proper development plans are put in place to drive improvement and progress.
- Collaborating with capture, proposal, partner, solutions architects, and specialist product support to ensure winning Lumen bids, proposals, and solutions.
- Improving sales and process development, ensuring promotion of key messages, engagement of supporting functions, competitor analysis and market positioning, and raising the level of strategic services within the sales teams.
- Experience managing and influencing client relationships at the senior executive level and the ability to present and interact with all levels of management.

What We Look For in a Candidate
10+ years sales management experience; specific experience selling to Federal accounts required (i.e., USDA, DOI, USPS, SSA, VA, etc.)7+ years of experience directly managing large teams with a proven track record of successfully leading other managers; an outstanding, hands-on executive leader with proven managerial abilities; excellent team leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to coach, mentor, and train others within Lumen and can educate key stakeholders; ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience. Typically, with 15+ years related experience or 12+ years related experience with Master’s degree.

Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$188,820 – $314,690 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.
$198,750 – $331,250 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.
$208,690 – $347,820 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.
$218,630 – $364,380 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
