  • This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Regional Information Technology Division.
  • Responsible for providing technical implementations, direction, support and leadership in regard to the design, development, and deployment of solutions within the AA wholly owned regional carriers, and our customer base. 
  • The technical lead comes up with innovative solutions for business and technical problems, creates and maintains technical specifications, as well as anticipates and acts upon issues that arise, providing alternate approaches and solutions, communicates decisions clearly, and sets the standard for highest quality of work.
     

What you’ll do

  • Support and maintain local and cloud-based applications for the Ops Control Centers at three carriers. 
  • Assist with software upgrades, testing, documentation, and coordination with development teams and business units. 
  • Own IT processes and provide departmental guidance on systems analysis best practices. 
  • Communicate application issues to stakeholders, including management, end users, and vendors. 
  • Collaborate with business units to prioritize projects, clarify business needs, and support case justifications. 
  • Provide operational support during an on-call rotation for the American Eagle Operational Control Centers. 
  • Support server patching, disaster recovery initiatives, and remote desktop farm maintenance. 
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable, highly available applications while adhering to technical standards. 
  • Evaluate product requirements, propose solutions, and work with architecture to meet long-term growth needs. 
  • Mentor and guide team members on architecture, design, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
  • Works extended hours, including nights and weekends, as needed in order to support the operation
     

All you’ll need for success

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 5+ years of prior experience in similar roles 
  • Fundamental understanding of IT concepts, with a focus on Azure
    • Compute: Function Apps, App Services, Logic Apps, Virtual Machines
    • Networking (DNS, Subnets)
    • Cyber Security & Privacy
    • High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
    • Storage: SQL databases, storage blobs, file shares
    • File Movement & Messaging: Service Bus, Event Hub, Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for Work Item Management
  • Experience with Observability principles and tools (logging, monitoring, alerting, change & incident management)
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex computer systems/problems; strong troubleshooting skills
  • 5 days a week work from a corporate office

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership
  • Azure certification preferred (Azure Fundamentals or higher)
  • Airline industry experience, including CAE, Sabre, business processes, and supporting technologies

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge and experience with the following:
    • Java SE, Java EE, or Spring and / or .NET, .NET Core (C#)
    • Object Orientated design patterns, SOA principles and patterns
    • Relational databases
    • Diagnostics/Testing Tools, such as Splunk, Dynatrace, LISA, and SOAP UI
  • Strong experience in application design, development, automated testing, and delivery within an Agile environment. 
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP stack, common protocols (SMB, SSH, SMTP, SFTP, HTTP/HTTPS), and CI/CD pipelines. 
  • Deep understanding of PCI, SOX, PII, and security processes and standards. 
  • Experience with software configuration management and build processes. 
  • Ability to document current systems, develop strategies for design changes, and generate technical roadmaps. 
  • Skilled in mentoring team members and training on best practices. 
  • Excellent analytical, technical problem-solving, and investigative skills. 
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and DevOps practices, including TDD, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment. 
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and urgent environments. 
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities, with a focus on maintaining productive relationships with teams, customers, and vendors.
