- This job is a member of the Information Technology Team within the Information Technology Division.
- Responsible for leveraging cutting edge technology to solve business problems at American Airlines by participating in all phases of the development process from inception through transition, advocating the agile process and test-driven development, using object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct and test reusable objects, and making the codebase a better place to live and work.
What you’ll do
- Works with product management, business analysts, developers, testers and architectural teams to define strategy and requirements.
- Develops and drives high-level strategic initiatives and secures commitment from external and internal teams for new initiatives.
- Applies software engineering best industry practices to web applications and services.
- Provides technical guidance, direction, and decisions to team developing custom and off-the-shelf web applications and services
- Works with Application/Enterprise Architects to establish development and deployment standards, and ensures adherence to technology platform decisions.
- Assists with software vendor POC product evaluations and recommendations, and design and manage development of the technical solution.
- Applies appropriate technology to reduce costs and/or improve productivity resulting in value to the company.
- Maintains an effective approach on problem solving, multi-tasking, coordinating, and scheduling in accordance with stated goals to ensure visibility and predictability.
- Consistently demonstrates a positive, professional, leadership attitude and frame of mind when working with and communicating with others
All you’ll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
- 5 years of full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Airline Industry experience, including Native Sabre
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Experience in Continuous Delivery/Continuous Integration (Jenkins, Cloudbees, Nexus, TDD, Automated regression testing)
- Experience with Microservices, HW/SW Resource Management, and Cloud Framework implementation
- Experience in Service optimizations for improved performance.
- Experience in Disaster Recovery Planning and Other Resiliency Efforts
- Ability to dissect large and complex deliverables, into manageable bodies of work that can be delivered iteratively
- Demonstrated experience in helping to lead high visibility project with a well-rounded technical background in Airline Operations and/or Crew Management Technologies
- Hands-on experience in Azure PaaS, AKS, Data platform, Automation, Observability & Resiliency practice.
- Proven ability to build strong and sustainable relationships with both Internal and External Stakeholders
- Certification/deep knowledge in NoSQL(MongoDB) and Machine Learning
- Java, Angular, and/or IOS Experience
- Microsoft Power Apps experience preferable
