The Role

 

The Senior Engineer will lead and participate in multiple team environments and to provide independent efforts to all aspects of system integration including design, needs analysis, design review, testing, implementation, and validation. As a highly technical and hands-on position, the Sr Engineer will be responsible for systems in support of Lumen’s Government and commercial managed security services platforms addressing .gov and critical infrastructure protection missions.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Provide necessary coordination, support and technical assistance to the Customer NOC to enable situational awareness of all customer services within Lumen. 
  • The engineer will serve as the interface between Lumen and Government POC regarding planned and unplanned maintenance events, incident response by identifying which Lumen transport circuits are impacted by an event.
  • Attend daily Government meetings and provide information on maintenance activities and impact on the Government Network
  • Provide NOC support to apply Lumen transport expertise to ensure trouble ticket accuracy.
  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to enhance teamwork, trust and transparency.
  • Experience in analyzing problems to determine root cause and implementation of corrective actions is required.
  •  Must be able to provide accurate written and verbal communication.  
  • Ability to provide the proactive status of assigned work, ability to estimate the level of effort for future work and accomplish tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills with the ability to work in collaborative environment.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience. 

Security Requirements:

  • TS/SCI 
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation)
  • 7+ years of related experience.
  • Strong Communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • PMP Certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Must have a current valid driver’s license.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges
$93,210 – $155,350 in these states: VA.

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
