About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking an experienced employment law attorney to join the Legal Department as Senior Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will join a collegial and hard-working team of employment attorneys who work closely with Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Global Compliance to support the company’s various businesses and functions. This position will be based in Arden Hills, MN, Maple Grove, MN, or Marlborough, MA, and will report to Director, Employment Law.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Review and provide counsel regarding restrictive covenants and employment agreements
- Communicate on behalf of company regarding restrictive covenants and employment agreements
- Provide legal advice and counsel to the business relating to employment issues, including hiring, termination, reductions in force, performance management, wage and hour, leaves and accommodations, and compliance with non-discrimination laws.
- Provide employment law support for due diligence and integration efforts relating to mergers and acquisitions
- Provide employment law support for Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Global Compliance investigations
- Respond on behalf of company to attorney demand letters and agency matters, including government-initiated inquiries and audits
- Partner with litigation counsel in employment litigation matters
- Draft separation agreements and negotiate with counsel as necessary
- Provide counsel on various human resources policies and programs, including diversity and inclusion efforts
Required qualifications:
- J.D.; admission to MN, MA or another state bar; in good standing in all jurisdictions where admitted
- 7+ years of relevant experience practicing employment law
- Strong command of employment laws, regulations, and best practices
- Experience handling non-compete and other restrictive covenant matters
- Excellent written and verbal communications, client relationships, and business acumen
- Must possess a strong work ethic; be creative, proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, self-directed, and highly ethical
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior litigation experience preferred
