The estimated base salary range for this role is “$105,000 to $145,000” per year.  
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors (salary may be adjusted based on geographic location)

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer in Pensacola, FL.  The Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for leading and executing projects relating to manufacturing equipment and processes. Additionally, the Senior/Principal Mechanical Project Engineer will have the opportunity to work closely with various teams within the organization, including AWI’s manufacturing, Innovation, New Product Development, plant and operations staff, along with outside suppliers.

What you will do

  • Leading and executing major capital projects per agreed cost, schedule, and performance 
  • Specifying equipment, working with vendors, and designing, procuring and installing assets  to build new production lines within existing facilities or new facilities 
  • Investigating problems with process and equipment and recommending corrective action 
  • Applying sound mechanical & precision maintenance principles to all work performed 
  • Actively participating as a member of multifunctional project teams executing a variety of capital projects from concept to asset installation and start-up 
  • Participating in Agile Lean events to drive rapid process improvements 
  • Participating, mentoring and developing engineers and maintenance personnel on technical and engineering best practices and precision maintenance 
  • Working closely with plant engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met
  • Training and developing less experienced engineers at both AWI and plant level

 

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 5-7 years of experience
  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with estimating project costs
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent 
  • 5-7 years of experience with project planning and execution in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lead projects and teams 
  • Hands on installation and construction skills 
  • Proven ability to communicate and integrate well across organizational functions/units 
  • Demonstrated presentation skills 
  • Willingness to travel to local and international locations 
  • Previous project management experience 

 

What will make you stand out

  • Past experience using AutoCAD
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) and/or Professional Engineer (PE) certification 
  • Experience utilizing Lean tools
