Job Summary:

Essential duties include the locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations. Candidate should be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required. Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment. #LI-SNH

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Locating and designing support for various piping systems and performing associated calculations.
  • Be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3.
  • Works closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
  • Coordinates with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
  • Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​. 
  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance​. 
  • Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements​. 
  • Participates in studies that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in plant design and piping work​. 
  • Develops and interprets design criteria and specifications for most complex plant design and piping infrastructure in a global business unit​. 
  • Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions​. 
  • Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements​. 
  • Coordinates plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.​ 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1

  • Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Level 2

  • Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good knowledge of AISC and ASME B31.3 and other relevant industry codes and standards.
  • Prior experience using GTStrudl structural analysis program.
  • PE Registration preferred.
  • Prior experience using Pipe SupportModeler software.
  • Previous Bechtel project experience preferred.
  • Previous DOD/DOE project experience preferred.
  • Must be US Citizen.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
