Role Business Strategist 

 

Location: London, Hybrid Working (2 days a week Office Working)

What is the Role:

As we enter a new strategic cycle, we have taken the opportunity to review our business structure to ensure we are setup for success.  This has created an exciting opportunity for an experienced strategist.

The team explores a range of strategic options, identifies strategic priorities that optimise stakeholder value in the near and long term and translates this into a comprehensive strategic plan. In addition, the team undertakes deep dives on key business issues as required.

 

We are looking for somebody to join our team that will bring expertise, creativity, drive, and ambition to the role.  You will work alongside the team and function lead, UKMD and UK Senior Management Team to create and implement strategic priorities that will contribute to the growth and success of our organisation.

 

 

Key accountabilities.

  • Amplify the business model/ strategies to maximise business performance.
  • Undertakes research / situational analysis to highlight key opportunities & challenges facing the Bank as well as understanding & communicating potential new sources of business/strategic direction.
  • Undertakes regular market scans to provide insights on macro trends, competitive risks, regulatory developments. 
  • Be up to date with and understand industry and competitor information (both traditional and non-traditional disruptors), consumer behaviour and business opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the regulatory environment in which we operate.
  • Compilation of regular submissions to UKSMT, Exco and UK/Group Board as required.
  • Undertakes periodic in-depth strategic reviews on key business issues.
  • Undertakes strategic planning processes including the annual strategic review.  This includes tracking activities against planning timelines and ensuring quality and consistency of submissions.
  • Provides frameworks to create and develop action plans whilst monitoring progress and impact.

 

 

What you Will Bring

  • Minimum 5 – 7 years relevant experience in a strategic role to include strategic planning cycles and performance monitoring.
  • Experience in the development & execution of impactful strategies that have made a difference for a large, complex organisation, including a proven ability to deliver ongoing customer & financial improvements.
  • High awareness of the importance of data and ability to interrogate and analysis of same
  • A strong team-player mindset, coupled with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across a large, complex organisation.
  • Understands all facets and drivers of the business, and ability to make decisions with recognition of short and long-term implications. 
  • Adaptability with a high tolerance of ambiguity and ability to make high quality, holistic decisions under pressure.
  • Strong commercial and entrepreneurial acumen.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple activities and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to capture, create and present information in a professional and engaging manner as well as simplifying and diluting complexity into understandable and practical actions.
