Job Summary:

Performs assignments that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Exercises limited but increasing judgment in performing assigned tasks. Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Receives technical and administrative supervision from Engineering Group Supervisor

Supervision Exercised

  • Provide technical direction to ICSS Team members who develop IO assignments, IO Configuration, Implementation of Logics and Graphics and test the integrated system.

Contacts

  • Maintains contact with the immediate work group or discipline and interfaces with other disciplines as specifically directed.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Design Criteria for Controls and Instrumentation.
  • Development of Detailed design specifications for ICSS (DCS / SIS / FGS) and HMI / SCADA.
  • Preparation of Functional Safety Management Plan (FSMP) and Safety Requirement Specification (SRS). (Preferred)
  • Preparation of Complex Loop Control Narratives, Cause and Effect Matrix/Diagrams for Process and F&G Systems, Logic narratives.  
  • Development of I/O data base for DCS, SIS, FGS and Mechanical Vendor Packages.
  • Preparation of Material Requisition for ICSS; Review of the various technical bids, initiate and resolve Technical queries with bidders and prepare Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE). Assist procurement team in finalizing the commercial bid evaluation and purchase order.
  • ICSS Supplier documents review  
  • Preparation of Logic Typical / control modules and testing for DCS, SIS and Fire and Gas System.
  • Customary Logic Development in DCS, SIS and Fire and Gas System.
  • Experience in populating ICSS Database using Supplier Bulk Loading Software from Instrument Index export.
  • Experience in developing typical software library based on Loop typical derived from P&IDs and Instrument Index.
  • Preparation of IO List, IO Allocation for customary / Remote IO systems and details of cross-wiring between cabinets.
  • Design of Marshalling and System Cabinets.
  • Preparation of FAT / SAT procedures for ICSS (DCS / SIS / FGS) and test procedures for vendor PLCs offered by various package vendors.
  • Coordinate with the ICSS suppliers for all activities relative to Site Acceptance Testin (SAT) and Site Integration Test (SIT) of ICSS.
  • Assist and coordinate troubleshooting between instrumentation, ICSS, ECMS, and 3rd Party systems.
  • P&ID reviews and mark-ups for correct depiction of complex loops.
  • Application of Alarm Management in process industries with knowledge of ISA 18.2.
  • Development of ICSS network block diagram and System architecture.
  • Grouping & development of simple and complex HMI graphics based on PFDs, P&IDs and vendor documents for a DCS System.
  • Configuration Knowledge of Instrument Asset Management System (IAMS), Plant Historian (Preferred).
  • Develop Software and Hardware FAT plans and perform FAT with customer.
  • Develop/Review System Architecture for entire ICSS.
  • Support Project Manager for all technical aspects of project as well as support in various project activities such as scope review, kick off meeting, resource planning, engineering planning, procurement support, quality control, customer handling, risk monitoring control, progress report and closeout.
  • Analyze customer inputs and comprehend requirements such as Design Specifications, PIDs, Control Narratives, IO List, Instrument Index, Operating Philosophies etc. and Raise Technical Queries when required.
  • Coordinate assigned work with other disciplines/ technical personnel as directed.
  • Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon forthrightness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • B.Tech in Instrumentation & Control from a recognized university.
  • Level 1: 12 – 16 years of industry experience.
  • Level 2: 16+ years of industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering and Design experience in EPC and/or FEED Projects.
  • TUV/Exida Certified Functional Safety Professional and Certified Cybersecurity Professional.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough technical knowledge of Control Systems engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
  • Comprehend industry regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
  • Comprehend the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating.
  • Job knowledge of various types of field Instrumentation, DCS, PLC, Hazardous areas is essential.   
  • Design experience and working knowledge of DCS / SIS / PLC and SCADA Networks, Fiber optic and CAT 6 is essential. 
  • Basic awareness industry standards Application Programs such as SPI.
  • Good knowledge of MODBUS TCP/IP and RTU communication protocols.
  • TUV/EXIDA Functional Safety Engineer certification or experience in a functional safety role would be advantageous.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Virtualization products like VMware, Hyper-V.
  • Preferred knowledge and working experience on the following systems:
  • Honeywell- Experion / Safety Manager
  • Yokogawa- Centum VP / Prosafe RS
  • Emerson- Delta V / Delta V SIS
  • Allen Bradley- Control Logix
  • Schneider – Triconex / Foxboro 
  • Knowledge on performing Integrated testing between Software and Hardware.
  • Experience in handling FAT and SAT and change management.
