Project Overview:

Bechtel is seeking to expand its decades long relationship with Reliance by providing Project Management Consultant (PMC) Services and Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Services for offsites and utilities (OSBL) for a multi-billion-dollar upgrade / expansion of existing petrochemical facilities in India. Reliance plans to augment its existing petrochemical facilities in Dahej, Gujarat, and Nagothane, Maharashtra, to expand its PVC capacity. The PMC Services will be led out of India with personnel deployed in Mumbai region, the project sites in India, as well as several key contractor locations across India. The EPCM Services for OSBL will be led out of Bechtel’s India offices.

The positions on this project will start as assignment in Navi Mumbai, Dahej or Nagothane.

 

Position Summary

  • Makes decisions independently concerning problems within the electrical discipline on the project. 
  • Represents the electrical discipline on the project with Contractors and Owner to resolve technical questions and as required to coordinate work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor Contractors’ engineering progress in electrical discipline and reports to project engineering management.
  • Coordinate with other leaders within the project organization to ensure that multi-discipline interfaces are properly addressed with resolution of technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and participate in reviews of Contractors’ engineering documents/deliverables within the electrical discipline to ensure compliance with the contract requirements, including project procedures, project specifications and applicable codes and standards. 
  • Monitor status of Contractor documents reviews for the electrical discipline.
  • Work with other PMC lead discipline engineers to ensure that all interfaces between disciplines are clearly defined and recorded.
  • Promote the creation of a work environment supported by leadership which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.
  • Participate in project technical reviews, progress and review meetings.
  • Prepare electrical engineering deliverables relating to regulatory compliance, air emissions and water/wastewater treatment.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and review designs, studies, reports and proposals.
  • Take the initiative to coordinate the design development of a system with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.
  • Show knowledge of and perform standard discipline engineering activities on projects with minimal technical oversight.
  • Interface with overall project team and client on a regular basis showing excellent communication skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Review of and input to OSBL electrical engineering scope including single line diagrams, electrical calculations, equipment specifications, equipment datasheets, and material requisitions.
  • Review of and input to EPC contractor deliverables including single line diagrams, electrical calculations, equipment specifications, equipment datasheets, and material requisitions.
  • Deliver excellent quality work, showing thoroughness and rigor in checking and attention to detail.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic Qualifications 

  • Hold a recognized degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Display excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design execution.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision showing a high degree of professionalism.
  • Have familiarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes.
  • Be a Professional Engineer or Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) or shows willingness to complete.
  • Have experience in EPC industry and with large-scale project execution.
  • Have experience as previous PMC / Owners’ Engineer.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Engineer for an Area, Complex Package, Proposal, FEED, or EPC is required.
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience.

 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Previous Chemical or Petrochemical experience.
  • Previous experience working in India.
  • Previous experience leading Project Proposals, FEED, or EPC is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing 3rd party contractors
