What do we need:
Amway is seeking a R&D Technician II to join our Chemistry Quality Control team within the Amway Research & Development division. This team, located at our Ada, Michigan headquarters, provides a broad range of chemistry-related technical services and expertise, supporting Amway’s global Innovation, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain functions. This is a first shift, five day position.
What’s special about this team:
The QC Chemistry group is a dynamic team of 19 FTEs and 4 contractors, focused on testing and releasing raw materials, in-process samples and finished goods in two high-throughput labs. These labs employ a broad range of instrumentation with methodologies including wet chemistry, HPLC/UPLC, GC, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, NIR, FTIR and more. The materials and products tested in the labs support several plants/products across campus ranging from supplements to protein powders to personal care products. This team works under the umbrella of the QC Department, which also includes Microbiology, Incoming Material Inspection and Records Review. This team works cross-functionally with partners in Research & Development, as well as Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
What’s special about this role:
You will be trained on multiple different wet chemistry techniques within the lab including titrators, pH meters, USP methods, etc. You may collaborate with the Chemistry, Investigations and Microbiology team within Sciences to assist with method development. There is a large variety of testing and ample learning opportunities.
Required qualifications:
- Associates or BS degree in chemistry, biology, Life sciences or related field
- Demonstrated ability to follow SOPs/test methods and reporting data
- Experience conducting experiments as needed and as directed by scientists
Skills to be successful in the role:
- GMP chemistry laboratory experience preferred
- Attention to detail to follow test procedures, standard operating procedures, and safety requirements
- Document work, keeping accurate records and data analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skill
- Ability to prioritize and complete work efficiently while meeting high quality standards
- Flexible team player, self-motivated, ability to be adaptable and to work independently and as part of a team.
