BWXT is currently seeking a Quality Systems Specialist for its Lynchburg Technology Center (LTC) location in VA!
BWXT seeks a self-motivated, detail-oriented team member to support its Lynchburg Technology Center (LTC). The Quality Support Specialist is responsible for supporting LTC Operations in the performance of a broad range of duties. Candidate must be able to confidently work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, professional attitude. Candidate must be able to effectively prioritize and juggle tasks daily to meet deadlines. Flexibility, and confidentiality are key in this position. The ability to work autonomously, as well as with a team, are vital to the candidate’s success.
Job Description / Duties:
- Own product quality and customer flow down requirements.
- Coordinates Quality Assurance Processes for emerging LTC programs.
- Collaborate with and support Operations management teams to support the general business operations.
- Required to read and understand customer quality requirements and ensure they are implemented into the procedures.
- Create QA procedures to ensure the quality requirements are met.
- Work directly with and serve as primary Quality liaison between stakeholders, including the LTC Pilot Plant, AT Quality and NOG-T Quality Assurance Departments and LTC Engineering Supervisor in support of Pilot Plant programs.
- Contribute ideas and strategy in planning phases to organize Quality Assurance infrastructure efforts in support of Pilot Plant programs.
- Develop and maintain a subject matter expert level of knowledge, and provide interpretations and recommendations for, the implementation of applicable quality requirements.
- Ensure strict operational compliance with applicable regulations, quality requirements and LTC/NOG/AT Procedures.
- Execute additional quality related projects and work as assigned by the by the Pilot Plant Operations Manager.
- Take the lead on functional specification review meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve successful results.
- Ensure design specifications meet functional specifications.
- Ensure Operational Procedures meet all requirements and validates that no unintended consequences from operations changes.
Job Qualifications / Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree + two (2) years of relevant experience. Or a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience and a high school diploma/equivalent.
- Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required.
- Must be able to confidently work in a fast-paced, fluid office environment.
- Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Must have proven skills as a multi-tasker.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a rapidly changing environment is required.
- Must be able to effectively prioritize and juggle tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Must exercise autonomy, flexibility, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment as well as independently.
- Must be able to favorably work with internal department personnel, including management.
- Must be able to work with outside vendors.
- Must be willing to work in a lab facility.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Willingness to make Safety a high priority.
- Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- If applicable, must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Pay: $77,000.00 – $112,000.00
The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $77,000.00 and $112,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed ‘at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
