What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Compliance Engineer to join our Quality team, focusing on maintaining and expanding Halal and Kosher certifications for our Nutrition and Beauty product lines. In this role, you will act as a key point of contact for both internal teams and external certifying agencies, ensuring adherence to certification requirements. You’ll provide critical insight and guidance on compliance, partnering closely with Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, and external suppliers to resolve issues and support certification across various internal plants and external contract manufacturers. A proactive approach is essential, as you will be expected to anticipate potential certification challenges and advocate for early resolution. Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving cross-functional collaboration, ensuring that all teams are aligned and certifications are obtained efficiently. Your contributions will directly support the growth and success of our global product portfolio by ensuring compliance with industry standards.

In this role you will collaboratively and independently provide certification expertise and solutions to a wide range of challenges associated with obtaining and maintaining Halal and Kosher certification.  As the key contact for this expertise, you will play a critical role in continuing to grow Amway’s $7B business by providing certifications critical for business growth in several markets that require Halal and/or Kosher product certification for consumption.  This is a flexible hybrid role with an anticipated on-site presence of 3 days/week.

There is an ongoing shift from back end to front end design for quality work to get ahead of issues and minimize reactive quality work.  Your ability to work collaboratively and problem solve will be valued in this role as you work broadly with many internal and external partners.  You will have the opportunity to manage, lead, and/or participate in complex cross-functional efforts to ensure high quality, certified products reach our customers in a timely manner.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in 3rd party certifications, auditing, and/or Quality Assurance in the CPG, food, or pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in supporting audits, problem solving, and/or product development
  • Experience conducting facility audits to assess compliance with religious and safety standards
  • Assess and identify areas where non-compliance could occur and develop corrective actions
  • BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Chemistry, Government Relations, or a related field

Skills to be successful in the role:

  • Experience in or supporting a GMP manufacturing environment
  • Experience with quality standards
  • Experience in organic, Halal, Kosher NSF, vegan, and/or non-GMO project verified.
  • Experience with data analysis, product certification processes/organizations, hosting audits, regulation interpretation, and problem solving
  • Ability to collaborate with product development, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain planning, external suppliers and certifying agencies to effectively and efficiently resolve issues

What’s special about this team:

The Quality Assurance team sits within the Innovation & Sciences Division, and is a hardworking team of over 25 engineers across two Amway sites (Ada, Michigan and Buena Park, California).  The team works in a fast-paced environment supporting internal and external manufacturing sites to ensure quality products are produced and supplied in a way that meets customer expectations, including desired 3rd party certifications.  Our team works heavily with cross functional partners such as product development, planning, suppliers, and manufacturing to prevent and address product quality issues, including but not limited to certification compliance.  Our team also works with our global QA counterparts in over 10 markets across many countries.
