The Role

Lumen is seeking an Operations Technician to join the Service Assurance NOC team. This position will act as a liaison between LSR, DSL, or other internal network teams and our Field Technicians to support in successful network system installations and/or maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning new technologies and advancing their technical skillset in alignment with Lumen’s digital transformation and cultural beliefs of Teamwork, Trust, Transparency, Clarity, Courage, Customer Obsession, Growth Mindset, and Allyship.

Location

This is a hybrid role open to candidates based in any 1 of 3 the locations listed below with the expectation to be in office every other Wednesday. Shifts for this team are on a 24/7 schedule and this position will likely be assigned to an after-hours shift (either 3:00-11:00 PM or 11:00 PM-7:00 AM).

The Main Responsibilities

  • Manages and resolves routine inquiries via Ops Console ticketing platform.
  • Monitors network performance, alarms, and operations, resolving routine network monitoring problems.
  • Fields calls from Technicians, advising on equipment installation, outages, or other maintenance activities on network switching equipment.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent education and 2+ years related experience
  • SONET and Ethernet network experience
  • Strong technical foundational knowledge and understanding of networks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Ops Console or comparable ticket monitoring platform
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges
$38,119 – $50,825 in these states: LA 
$40,500 – $53,500 in these states: FL, GA

As with the pay range variety that’s based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
