Salary Range: $128,500 – $171,300 CAD

BNSF’s Sales & Marketing team serves as a primary contact for all BNSF customers, working to make the shipping experience as easy and seamless as possible. From onboarding new customers to handling rate and service requests to answering billing questions, the Sales & Marketing team is focused on building strong customer relationships and ensuring effective communication throughout the shipping process. The team is organized into several critical business units to cater to diverse customer needs and industry demands: Agriculture and Energy, Consumer Products, and Industrial Products, alongside specialized units for Customer Support, Forecasting, and Planning. Each of these units plays a role in tailoring our marketing strategies and services to meet the unique requirements of our wide-ranging customer base, ensuring a comprehensive and responsive approach to customer service and engagement. 

This is a full-time position located in Calgary, AB in Canada. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely.  Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is 25% – 50%

Key responsibilities may include:  

This position is responsible for managing BNSF’s key Petroleum accounts, including customers who ship LPGs, asphalt and other refined products. This position will focus on:

Proactively developing and implementing plans to expand position in existing customer supply chain.

Develop and implement sales strategies utilizing current market information, competitive and economic conditions, corridor and/or lane analysis and customer insights.

Increasing the volume of this portfolio to meet annual financial plans by uncovering business opportunities with current and prospective customers and delivering BNSF solutions to create efficiencies within the customers’ supply chains.

Managing customer interface to maximize customer and market potential including revenue, contribution, volume, and market share.  

Managing and implementing post-sale processes to ensure execution and follow-up.

Ensure quality service through coordination with various BNSF departments.

Working with other Class 1 and short line railroads, as required, to develop customer solutions and/or resolve customer issues.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without Company sponsorship now AND in the future
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • Ability to travel to Canada and United States
  • Minimum three years’ experience in sales, transportation, marketing, operations or logistics management.
  • Understand logistics management chain and knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Ability to effectively consider a wide range of internal, external, and economic factors in developing and executing strategic plans.
  • Ability to develop and grow successful business contacts to achieve strategic plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, as well as effective written communication skills and leadership potential.
  • Ability to develop and deliver customer presentations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, database and graphic software, and E-tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business-related field
  • Seven years’ experience in sales, transportation, marketing, operations, and/or logistics management.
  • Knowledge of BNSF’s operating capabilities and interline service processes and schedules.
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Prior experience developing and delivering customer presentations using PC-based
