This job is within the American Airlines Credit Union. The role is responsible for analyzing and reporting all non-card payment and delivery functions managed by the Payments department, as well as coordinating resources for the successful implementation of initiatives where the department serves as the project sponsor or stakeholder. This role also involves collaborating with the Payments department leadership team to define and achieve strategic objectives, while executing necessary analyses and project implementations. The ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of the payments industry, with experience in operations, product management, and analytical reporting functions.
What you’ll do
- Lead a team responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely execution of all ACH, Wire, and Federal Payments functions, in full compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and operating rules established by governing bodies such as NACHA
- Provide effective coaching and mentorship to team members to foster professional growth, enhance team performance, and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for ACH, Wire, and Federal Payments services, aligning with the credit union’s digital payment objectives
- Oversee budgeting processes, monitor expenses, and deliver accurate financial forecasts to ensure efficient resource utilization and support payment initiatives
- Manage and maintain critical data for departmental audits related to ACH, Wire, and Federal Payments services, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and internal policies
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, financial institutions, payment processors, and regulatory entities to resolve payment-related issues and streamline system integrations
- Lead the complete lifecycle of payment system projects, from research and planning to execution, ensuring timely delivery of enhancements and implementations
- Serve as the primary End User Authorization Contact (EUAC) for Federal Reserve systems, managing vendor relationships, user access, and payment system maintenance to ensure continuous service availability and optimal performance
- Partner with digital banking providers, technology vendors, IT teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of payment systems
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with payment operations by implementing robust controls and contingency plans to minimize disruptions
- Conduct thorough research on emerging payment technologies, networks, and industry trends to inform strategy and maintain a competitive edge
- The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the confidentiality and security of all account information handled during daily operations, maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
All you’ll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of three years of work experience relevant to the nature of the described job duties
- Previous successful project management and/or project implementation experience
- Superior research, analysis, business writing and reporting skills
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Sales, Management or a related field
- Five or more years of work experience (or an equivalent combination of work experience and post-secondary education) directly relevant to the job duties
- Strong working knowledge of AACU systems, policies and procedures is highly desirable
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Skilled in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) gained through either work experience with the software or education and hands-on use of the software
- Deep understanding of ACH, Fedwire, and FedNow payment systems, including their operational procedures, regulations, and technical aspects
- Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills & exercise effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff, including the ability to concisely and effectively present information to all levels of Credit Union staff and members
- Ability to work independently and prioritize and manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Strong time management, organization, planning, project management and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks that may involve competing priorities
- Ability to apply knowledge and experience to long term tactical projects within and outside core work group
Skilled in the ability to analyze problems objectively - Ability to understand AAFCU’s culture, vision and mission and be able to integrate them into departmental standards
- Ability to exercise strong vendor management skills and work collaboratively to achieve results
- Ability to travel overnight
- Ability to maintain satisfactory performance and attendance
- Ability to pass applicable American Airlines and Credit Union pre-hire compliance checks
