JOB PURPOSE
As a Lead Accountant at Burberry, you will play a key role in our UK and Italy RTR Finance teams and be responsible for the accounting processes and standards across a number of entities, delivering high quality financial information, compliance and controls.
This Lead Accountant role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and is based in our Queen Street, Leeds office 2 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviewing teams’ month-end outputs including journals and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as cash-flow and management reporting outputs
- Preparation and reviewing of statutory accounts outputs, and local compliance work and periodic returns
- Indirectly leading a high performing team through change, ensuring there is clarity across the team around roles, objectives, timescales, priority of deliverables and expected quality of outputs to support the business
- Effectively managing change by adapting, following guidance, understanding business needs, and anticipating impacts on roles and processes
- Understanding business processes and priorities to drive simplification, standardisation and automation within accounting processes
- Encourage issue identification and implement corrective and preventive action plans to resolve problems and improve processes
PERSONAL PROFILE
- Professional accounting qualification is required (ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA)
- Strong technical background with experience applying IFRS or local accounting GAAP, ideally in corporate, international organisations
- Worked within a multicurrency environment, analysing and understanding the impact of movements in exchange rates on reported results is desirable.
- Advanced Excel essential, experienced in building and working with complex models and large data sets
- Appetite for delivering continuous improvement
- Fluent in English (written & spoken) essential; any other European languages a plus
