The Role
CIM seeks an Investment Operations Analyst with excellent analytical, communication and technology skills to assist in managing the investment-related operational needs associated with Lumen’s retirement and employee benefit plan assets. The Analyst will work in a collaborative, small team environment and will interact with CIM staff, custodian bank representatives, service providers, and asset managers. The Analyst will be part of CIM’s Investment Operations & Compliance Team (IOC Team), representing a key role in helping CIM achieve its objectives. The Analyst will report to the Director of Investment Operations.
Working closely with IOC Team members, the Analyst will have responsibilities within all investment-related operational functionsThe Analyst will utilize best practices in and knowledge of investments and benefit plans to improve operational investment processes and reporting.
In this role, the Analyst will perform the essential duties and responsibilities outlined below, working closely with CIM’s Director of Investment Operations, other IOC Team members and CIM staff.
The Main Responsibilities
- Generation and analysis of trust and investment-related reporting covering investment performance, expenses, investment accounting and compliance
- Primary support for the processing and analysis of trust expenses, including payments, budgeting, and benchmarking
- Monitor and facilitate all trust-related cash flows, including capital calls, distributions, and invoices while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and appropriate fiduciary oversight
- Update CIM Board-level reports for all trusts including asset allocation exposures, performance data, and investment-related operational, actuarial, and regulatory information
- Communicate directly with asset managers to facilitate investment-related operational requirements and portfolio management
- Work with Compliance Manager on various tasks, projects and reports to ensure trust compliance with regulatory and internal requirements
- Partner with CIM team members to ensure custody bank information and reporting is accurately reflected in Lumen’s and the individual trust’s financial statements
- Cross train with IOC Team Managers to ensure redundancy on critical tasks and verify that key operational procedures are accurate and current. Monitor, update and implement operational procedures to ensure processes are efficient and effective
- Daily compliance functions for internally managed investment strategies
- Collaborate and establish strong, effective working relationships with CIM Team members, service providers and investment managers to establish best practices
- Provide ad-hoc CIM administrative support as needed
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field from an accredited four-year institution
- Three years of related experience in accounting, investment management, finance, information technology or back-office operations in an investment or corporate finance setting
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and MS Teams
- Located within commuting distance of Denver, Colorado (hybrid work environment)
Preferred
- Five years of relevant experience in financial markets, preferably in operations or back-office roles
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including VBA, pivot tables and database management tools
- Proficiency in Power BI and Python programming
- Desire to pursue (or progress towards) Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) designation
- Basic knowledge of pension fund management and 401(k) plans

Compensation
The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee’s primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.

$75,150 – $100,200 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY
$78,910 – $105,210 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$82,670 – $110,220 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
