About The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director – ANZ, the Head of Coles will lead a high-performing team to design and execute winning sales strategies, whilst continuing to cultivate deep relationships with all levels of the Coles Liquor team from the top down.
Based in Melbourne, with some travel between Australian cities required, this critical role demands a leader with exceptional commercial acumen, a customer-centric philosophy, and a proven ability to deliver outstanding results.
As part of the ANZ leadership team, the Head of Coles will be a key player in our overall market strategy, a global senior leadership team member, and demonstrate best practise through both their channel performance and people management.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a game-changing business plan for the Coles unit, achieving ambitious objectives and KPIs. Lead the Joint Business Planning process with Coles Liquor, developing key initiatives that support their strategy and create mutual benefit.
Sales Excellence: Drive sales performance across all channels, exceeding targets and expanding our market share using a robust plan, do, review approach. A forward thinker, with an innovative mindset to achieve growth with one of our biggest customers.
Customer Champion: Forge unbreakable bonds with Coles Liquor executive leadership & Head of Wine, anticipating their needs and delivering unparalleled value.
Team leadership & development: Inspire and empower your team, fostering a culture of excellence, driving growth, and ensuring the ongoing identification and retention of high-calibre talent.
Commercial Acumen: Manage budgets, forecasts, and P&L with precision, maximizing profitability. Drive revenue through regular monitoring of scan sales, promotional performance, and identifying new revenue streams.
Category Leadership: Win at range reviews through proactive category management and objective insights. Oversee and approve sales methods, key customer strategies, and promotional arrangements.
What You’ll Bring
- 10+ years of sales leadership experience in drinks, liquor, wine, or FMCG, with a portfolio of demonstrable achievements.
- A dynamic and influential leadership style, capable of motivating and inspiring high-performing teams.
- Exceptional customer relationship management skills, with a proven ability to connect at C-suite and influence at business unit leadership level.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to analyse market trends, identify opportunities, and develop innovative solutions.
- Strong P&L management experience, with a track record of delivering significant net sales value.
- High level of business acumen, with experience working in dynamic categories with major trading partners.
- Tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, or a related field (preferably post-graduate).
- Demonstrated knowledge of domestic routes to market.
- Strong planning, project management, and presentation skills.
- A passion for the wine industry and a desire to be part of a winning team.
