Job Summary
We are a seeking an experienced Clinical Veterinarian I-II to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Poolesville, MD.
As the Clinical Veterinarian I-II, you will diagnose and provide treatment plans for research nonhuman primate, ungulate and rodent species.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Lead, train, and mentor veterinary technicians in the evaluation, clinical care, and treatment of NHP, ungulate and rodent species. Assess and determine proficiency of the veterinary technical staff. Evaluate skill sets and identify training needs of veterinary technicians.
- Successfully cross-train other veterinarians in animal models, research-specific tasks, and procedures learned.
- Review and monitor protocols in progress to ensure that animal surgeries and procedures are performed appropriately.
- Assist with inspections of facilities for semiannual, annual, and periodic reviews by ACUC, OACU, and AAALAC.
- Complete in-depth reviews of protocols provide input to investigators concerning their research and plans for animal health and wellbeing.
- Read and review animal study proposals to provide input to the veterinary care aspect of the research proposed. Review, recommend, and initiate policies, practices, and procedures.
- Actively interact with management, facility veterinarian, and other clinical veterinarians and investigators to resolve customer requests, inquiries, and concerns, and to provide technical assistance.
- Communicate/interact with investigators, managers and staff regarding procedures and health concerns; in addition, to solve requests, inquiries, and complaints.
Who are we looking for?
The following are minimum requirements related to the Clinical Veterinarian I-II position:
Level I:
- A degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD)
- A current US State License.
- Preferred two years of relevant veterinary experience.
Level II:
- A degree in Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD)
- A current US State License.
- Must have at least two years of relevant veterinary experience with primates (Old or New World)
The pay range for this position is $160K-$185K USD per year. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
