Manage and administer IMS and DB2 databases on mainframe systems, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.

What will your job look like?

• You will be responsible for managing and maintaining IMS and DB2 databases on mainframe systems.
• Your role will involve performing database performance tuning, ensuring data integrity and security, developing backup and recovery strategies, and collaborating with application developers to design and implement database solutions.
• You will also monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to other team members.
• Interaction with clients (internal or external) may be required to understand and meet their requirements for database services.

All you need is…

• Bachelor / B.Sc. in computer science or equivalent
• Advance English proficiency
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to provide 24×7 on-call support on a rotational basis.

IMS DBA:

• IMS DB support experience with version 13 onwards.
• Experience in creating and modifying DBD, PSB, ACB, FMT.
• Administration of IMS Full Function, HALDB, Fastpath databases.
• Expertise in DBRC, Restore, Reorg, Load IMS DB.
• Experience in database initialization, forward recovery, building secondary index, pointer checker, checkpoint restart, Fast path, DEDB, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in IMS administration.
• Usage of IMS utilities (including IBM, BMC).
• Working knowledge of RACF as it relates to IMS.
• Knowledge of IMS exit points and routines.
• Familiarity with z/OS – TSO, ISPF, JCL.
• Tools: FileManager, ADBUS.
• Knowledge of IMS DC.

DB2 DBA on Mainframe (Z/OS):

• Experience in creating and modifying DB2 objects (Database, Storage Group, Tablespace, Tables, Views, Indexes, etc.).
• Proficiency with DB2 commands (Stop/Start Databases, Display command, Cancel thread, Term & Display utility, etc.).
• Expertise in DB2 utilities (Reorg, Runstat, Backup and Recovery of Table spaces, Repair, Load/Unload utilities).
• Ability to bind/rebind Plans/Packages and grant required accesses to Packages/Plans/Collections.
• Experience in Database Monitoring and Database replication (IBM DB2 Data Propagator).
• Strong troubleshooting skills in DB2 administration.
• Knowledge of DB2 privileges and RACF.
• Familiarity with z/OS – TSO, ISPF, JCL.
• Tools: DB2 Admin tool, QMF, FileManager, Changeman, ESP.

Nice to Have:

• REXX development experience.
• Exposure to network databases like Total or Supra DB on mainframe is an advantage.
