Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Staff Systems Engineer to provide leadership to our SLS Project team in our Promontory, UT offices.

Role description & Responsibilities:

The SLS Avionics and Electrical Staff Systems Engineer is responsible for technical project engineering planning and execution, and is accountable to the SLS Booster Project Chief Engineer. Position includes portions of avionics and electrical systems component engineering, including design, testing, and verification/certification. This position ensures that technical integrity of the related scope is achieved within cost and schedule constraints.

Job Duties:

• Technical Project Planning and Logic Development
• Coordination of assignment with required technical teams and resources to support execution
• Project-level scope execution tracking and control
• Compliant design release to meet requirements
• Proposal support
• Supplier technical oversight
• Support for Configuration Control Boards, Flight Review Boards and Material Review Boards

Experience Requirements:

• Working knowledge of both Analog and Digital Systems
• Familiarity with common Aerospace bus architectures (MIL-STD-1553, EIA-422), and experience with FPGA/ASIC design in a complex Avionics application
• Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with fault-tolerant avionics and electrical systems, and experience with related test and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to travel: Travel expectation of 5% – 15%

Experience Preferred:

• Significant background and experience with launch vehicle electrical systems, design, performance, and demonstrated related systems and component problem solving skills
• Strong communication, planning, project management and presentation skills
• Experience in Requirements Development, Allocation, Specification Development and Verification planning and reporting
• Experience with configuration management processes and practices, statistical process control, and supplier management

Education/Certifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; MS degree highly preferred.
BS degree with 15 years’ experience, or MS degree with 10 years’ experience,
or PhD with 7 years’ experience

Position may be filled at a lower level (Sr. Principal Systems Engineer)

• BS Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years’ experience or a
MS degree with 7 years’ experience, or PhD with 5 years’ experience.
