SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Product Manager, Schedule & Consist Planning is primarily responsible for configuring Schedule, Consist and other elements in our new reservation system through the life of the project and supporting hyper care period afterwards. Responsibilities include becoming a SME of the new system, working closely with stakeholders within and outside of Schedule & Consist Planning, and training SMEs on the new system. This role will work closely with the Product Manager, Pricing & Revenue Management and other team members engaged on the new reservation system. Additional configuration support outside of Schedule & Consist Planning may also be required. This is a technical individual contributor role with no direct reports. This role reports directly to the Sr Director, Business Strategy & Tech Integration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Configure new reservation system for Schedule & Consist Planning
• Consider commercial simplification and costs when configuring new system
• Train and mentor business SMEs in new system to ensure smooth transition
• Rigorously test (and work with others to test) system to ensure functioning as expected
• Regularly report on progress, directional shifts and any roadblocks
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Data Science or similar focus (or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience).
• Expert understanding of Schedule and Consist Planning at Amtrak
• Incredible attentiveness to detail with ability to think through downline implications of decisions
• Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Team player with excellent interpersonal and mentorship skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills, able to explain complex concepts simply
• Detail-oriented and able to prioritize and meet multiple competing demands
• Ability to create well-formatted, impactful presentations and present to senior leadership
• Demonstrated ability to make decisions with an appropriate balance of analysis and timeliness
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret data quickly
• Advanced understanding of schedules and consists and how they impact offers and operations
• Able and willing to pivot should business needs or priorities change
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience creating train or bus schedules at Amtrak
• Experience creating train consists
• Experience loading schedules in Arrow
• Other commercial or operational experience at Amtrak
• Master’s Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Data Science or similar focus (or equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience)
• Minimum 6 collective years in commercial or operations experience in the travel industry, with a minimum of one of those years in Schedule Planning, Consist Planning, CNOC or other relevant group.
WORK ENVRIORNMENT:
• This role can be filled in a hybrid capacity (up to 2 days in office a month)
• Occasional on-site work is required
• Up to 15% travel may be required to meet with internal/external stakeholders
COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
The salary/hourly range is $113,200-$146,664, Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee’s assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee’s base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
