How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
PRN/Flex schedule. Company equipment. Mileage Reimbursement. Could cover admissions, PRN visits, routine visits, and any other visit needs. Hours would be variable.
- Serves as nurse on-call – requiring the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and evaluate patient/caregiver needs. Makes visits in patients’ homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and adult care centers. Provides support to other staff. Works collaboratively with all team members – ensuring complete hand-off of information.
- Supervises Hospice LPNs and C.N.A.s as assigned. May supervise hospice volunteers and students from approved schools. Is directly supervised by the Hospice Manager or designee. Indirectly supervised by the Director.
- Demonstrates basic knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and end of life and is prepared to provide care to patients of all ages.
- May be asked to provide care at other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs. May be required to travel in adverse weather.
- Conducts end of life discussions with sensitivity, reflecting an understanding of the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of death and dying.

What We Require:
Education: Graduate of accredited Registered Nurse Program.
Experience: One (1) year experience in hospice, home health, oncology, or medical surgical nursing required.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia or approved compact state. Must have valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and personal vehicle for making home visits.
Life Support: Must obtain/maintain AHA BLS-HCP.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must have a clear criminal records’ check as approved through the Virginia State Police criminal record exchange and found to be free from barrier crimes. Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Keyboarding skills required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records. Must be able to meet essential job functions.
