- This job is a member of the Emergency Planning & Response Team within the Integrated Operations Division.
- Responsible for the continued development and improvement of the corporate emergency response plans. Due to the nature of the job, this position is on call 24/7. In the event of an aircraft accident/incident, or an isolated event involving American Airlines or American Eagle, this job will also be responsible for handling, processing and protecting confidential data while representing the Company and department in a professional and ethical manner. Documentation for American Airlines includes the Local Station Emergency Plan, Corporate Emergency Response Manual, Department Resource Guides and CARE Team Manual.
What you’ll do
- Maintains overall Company –wide corporate Emergency Response Plan
- Works collaboratively with departments throughout American Airlines to develop and deliver high quality, emergency response plans, while maintaining corporate consistency and ensuring appropriate processes and procedures are in place to support the plan
- Participates in emergency exercises for the corporate, departmental, station and Partner carriers
- Develops curriculum, course materials, and facilitator’s guides
- Conducts Train-the-Trainer sessions for other CARE instructors
- Facilitates initial and recurrent training classes
- Evaluates effectiveness of training course and implements continuous improvement
- Maintains and updates all training material, including CARE Team Member Handbook and training booklets for CARE Station Support training and Station Leadership Emergency Response
- Liaisons with the Employee Business Resource Groups (EBRGs) to validate cultural training and information
- Develops and implements new cultural training as information becomes available
- Works collaboratively with departments throughout American Airlines to ensure departments and stations are prepared to respond to an emergency
- Participates in emergency drills, including corporate drills, regional partner drills and manifest drills. Attend industry task force meetings and working groups such as IATA, A4A, OneWorld, NTSB and vendor events
- Manages EP&R training programs, including: Deployable CARE Team, CARE Station Support Team, special teams within CARE and Emergency Response training for station leadership
All you’ll need for success
Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- BA/BS degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience/training
- 2 years project management experience
Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience
- Prior CARE Team experience and emergency planning
Skills, Licenses & Certifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Skills in facilitation and formal presentation
- Ability to working nights, weekends and holidays with travel for an extended period of time may be necessary
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Ability to multi-task and shift priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
- Ability to lead and manage during crisis situations
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and complete projects on time
- Ability to respond to changing priorities
