Job Output
In this role, the Capital Project Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Project Managers with pre-planning, organizing, scheduling and the controlling responsibilities of assigned capital projects. The Capital Project Coordinator will work closely with the Project Managers, Project Teams, external contractors, and consultants to ensure that assigned projects are successful in terms of safety, cost, schedule, and performance. The Capital Project Coordinator will lead the execution of the Standard Work processes on assigned projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Project Management & Leadership
- Support project manager and project team and be able to backfill for project manager
- Drive the use of standard work to manage key measures of success – Safety, Cost, Schedule and Performance
- Drive teams to complete work, while also being a trusted team member
- Lead and facilitate project team meetings throughout lifecycle of projects
- Support PM and teams during process improvement kaizen events, working sessions & project shaping events
- Own onboarding and mentoring of new employees in standard project management processes
- Set up project team workspaces and manage logistics for team and vendor-related events throughout life of the project
Project Controls
Safety
- Promote AWI Safety Culture through working with PM and team to execute our Safety management processes
- Ensure team is using risk assessment tools and safety standard work, with the goal of 0/0 for every project
- Assist PM w/ executing EH&S Standard Work for Capital Projects including site entrance, training plans and logs, contractor safety training, and S&H audits
- Track environmental portion of project; facilitate meetings with EHS professionals to assist PM & team w/ meeting goals
Cost
- Assist PM & team with delivering projects that are on budget and ensure teams are using standard work
- Facilitate team through use of standard work to develop capital estimates & ARs
- Manage capital forecasting process & update PMs and capital managers on a timely basis of any changes
- Drive teams to deliver on their spend forecasts for capital and expense
- Own cost book development and work with project manager on management process
- Assist w/ development and tracking of project financial measures as needed
Schedule
- Assist PM with delivering projects on schedule and use of standard tools to develop detailed schedules for all project phases
- Facilitate team w/building and updating schedules, as well as facilitating contractor schedule discussions & updates
Performance
- Understand and drive to deliver project performance KMS metrics
- Communicate clearly & succinctly on project status
- Assist PM with developing and updating risk log
- Assist PM with managing site development, Gemba Processes, Visual Management, & stakeholder interactions

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in engineering, technology, finance or business field, or 5+ years’ experience in Project Management or Construction Management
- Aspirations of developing into a project manager, including experience leading some small scope projects
- Demonstrated ability to be highly organized, self-directed with initiative and attention to detail
- Facilitation ability with strong communications skills, both written and verbal
- Proven Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Education and/or Experience
